SUPERVISOR’S MESSAGE

Dear Business Technology Education Department Head:

It is my firm belief that the success of any business department depends on the leadership given by the department head.  The business technology education teachers look to the department head for guidance, support and leadership.  This Business Department Head Manual is designed to give important information about being a successful department head.  It is hoped that it will assist you in the day-to-day performance of your duties and guide you in providing leadership to all teachers in your department.

We have attempted to provide everything and anything you may need to support your teachers.  You are encouraged to make suggestions for its improvement, with the hope that as the years progress, we will design a more complete and functional manual.  At this point there are some areas that are “Under Construction”.  They will be updated as soon as time permits.  Throughout the school year, additions or corrections to this manual will be made as feasible.  The manual will also be posted at http://bte.dadeschools.net.

It is our hope that this manual will answer any questions you may have and make your job much easier so that we can continue to (a) excel as a program and (b) prepare students today for tomorrow’s business world!
